Uni, Career & Moving on.

So now, for me, university is over. 4 years of my life have gone into a degree, the classification of which, I won’t find out for a little while yet. Does this classification actually matter? I’ve been applying for jobs like crazy, and whilst some say that they required a certain classification (most want a 2:1), a lot don’t. The more technical ones do (some of the broadcast engineering jobs require a degree in electrical engineering, or similar experience; something I can’t quite boast yet). That all said, it seems it doesn’t matter what class of degree I end up with (I mean, it does, obviously..) as I’ve just been offered, and have accepted a job in London! It’s all a bit crazy at the moment. There’s a lot of stuff...

I am still here, just busy. Very busy.

Not so long ago, I went through a period of posting very regularly. That was nice. But now I’m very busy with a never-ending dissertation on the most boring subject known to man (WHY???) So, I am still alive, and I will post again. Oh, and I’m jumping off of the iPhone ship in favour of an Android. I may post about this soon.

Best Friday ever?

Best Friday ever?

Today started better than most. The last few days have been very busy, but this morning, I didn’t have to get up, and yet I did. (So why does this make it a good day? It doesn’t. I’m just going to list everything that, in hindsight, has been even vaguely positive. Then, at the end of the article, when I return to the title question of ‘best Friday ever?’, you’ll think I’ve been building to a ‘yes’, when it is in fact a trick. You’ll learn that it hasn’t been the best Friday ever, but it’s certainly been a good one. Oh, the mirth!) I got some post that I’d been expecting for ages (an IR receiver and remote for my HTPC and a case for the camera that I’d ordered but need to reorder...

I’m so tired

I’m so tired

Tomorrow will be the last filming I ever do for a university film. Providing all goes to plan. If something goes wrong, I’ll probably have to do a bit more next week, but nevertheless, being so close to finishing my degree feels very bizarre. In truth, I don’t particularly enjoy making films; it was fun for the first two years (just about) but now, I would honestly prefer a nice technical exam. Exams are easy; they’re a few hours and done forever. Not like filming.. We filmed all day today (I’m shattered; hence the otherwise nonsensical title), will film tomorrow, and will edit for too much time next week. I don’t know what it is about films that I don’t like (that said, I had fun today, and am working in a good group). I like...

Knock knock. Who’s there? A blog post.

Knock knock. Who’s there? A blog post.

I can’t quite believe it myself, but I finally got around to updating my blog for my ever-dwindling readerbase. My last post was complaining about university work before Christmas, and like most situations that are difficult to see past, I got through it quite admirably and moved on to even more work. People have always told me that the final year will be difficult, and it’s not that I doubted them.. I just wasn’t expecting quite so much of an increase. The last few weeks have been terrible in terms of how much I’ve done. I’ve lost all motivation for my final year project. Perhaps I should be more worried than I am, but I’m still confident that I’ll get it done (and done well). I think that I’ll be spurred on when I...

Deadlines looming.

Now that December is upon, people start going crazy for the festivities. Personally, I don’t like joining in until about 2 weeks before Christmas as otherwise, it get’s old before it gets here (so shops decorating for Christmas mid-october really winds me up..) It’s now only the 3rd of December, but what with all of the snow, I’m finding it difficult to stop myself looking forward to the festive cheer (although, I’m not sure why. It’ll be extra stressful this year). One thing that keeps bringing me down to Earth is the prospect of several approaching deadlines. That thing that was taking over my life (Advanced Studio) is almost completely over! The show was on Tuesday, so now all that remains is for me to finish the report....
