    Wordpress Plugin: Who Sees Ads

I’ve mentioned this plugin twice before, but I thought I’d just recap because I like it so much, and because I spent 20 minutes earlier, integrating it into this new theme.

If you view get directed to this post from Twitter, you’ll see a nice welcoming message. If you get to it (or get to the homepage) from Google, you’ll see some adsense banner ads (sorry, servers don’t pay for themselves). If you just go directly to the URL, or visit from another source, the site will be as it was meant to be, nice and simple.

This is the kind of thing that I really like about the Internet; really clever things that are simply for end users to implement.

For a more detailed look at Who Sees Ads, you could look at my previous post, here.

(Not a lot has happened today, and I didn’t feel like posting anything, but as I’ve posted something every day for the last week, I thought I should see how long I could keep it going for.)

    Updates on a few things

I’d forgotten how much I enjoy writing posts for my blog; I’m actually writing this a few minutes after I posted the last one (but I think I’ll save it until tomorrow to post).

I realised that in the 2 months where I wrote nothing, things that I’d posted about before, have been resolved. The most notable thing:

I finally have a working iMac!

Yes, after the saga of the iMac (briefly: bought it in August, kept crashing, phoned Apple lots, worked out it was a fault RAM slot on the logicboard, took it to a repair place, the said it was the HDD and replaced it, I got it back and it was still crashing, took it back, they couldn’t recreate the fault, I told them to try games, ‘ohhh’, they said, they ordered a new logicboard, it arrived, it was the wrong one, they sent it back, they ordered another one, I phoned Apple to complain, they admitted that I had been treated badly, they said they’d send a brand new one, I got the repaired one back, waited for the courier to collect it, went home for Christmas, still waiting, I rang again at the end of the Christmas break, they sent a new one out before the old one was returned, I finally had a working iMac a week into January, still trying to get them to sort the extended warranty on it. Can’t win them all), I finally have one that doesn’t crash when you try to do anything remotely stressful!

About a week after getting it, there was a kernel panic, although it turned out to be a fault memory stick. The iMac wasn’t the only thing panicking! I’m still trying to get them to transfer my extended warranty, but assume that’ll be sorted before long. They did (very kindly) say I could keep the wireless keyboard and magic mouse from the original one, so now I have two of each!

    Another new WordPress theme

Over Christmas, I kept having trouble with my blog being hacked (one of the reasons for the lack of posts), and one of the many problems seemed to be a security flaw with the last theme that I switched to. I changed it for another generic theme, but then found this one from elegantthemes.com (called ‘Memoir’). I like elegantthemes because you pay about $40 for access to all of the themes. It’s great for people like me who can’t stick to one theme!

MacBook Pro with SSD and HDD (See original post)

I finally received the HDD caddy for my MBP (although the seller had to send another one; the original got lost en route from Hong Kong) and it was actually very simple to install! I can’t remember if I have photos, but I may do a full post on this. In summary, though, it’s brilliant. Lightning quick for apps with mass storage for all files/media etc.

Other things that I plan to post about soon:
