Today started better than most. The last few days have been very busy, but this morning, I didn’t have to get up, and yet I did.
(So why does this make it a good day? It doesn’t. I’m just going to list everything that, in hindsight, has been even vaguely positive. Then, at the end of the article, when I return to the title question of ‘best Friday ever?’, you’ll think I’ve been building to a ‘yes’, when it is in fact a trick. You’ll learn that it hasn’t been the best Friday ever, but it’s certainly been a good one. Oh, the mirth!)
I got some post that I’d been expecting for ages (an IR receiver and remote for my HTPC and a case for the camera that I’d ordered but need to reorder from somewhere else).
I then went to the careers centre at uni with my CV expecting it to be criticised to within an inch of its life, but in fact, it’s apparently very good. Just a few small tweaks.
I then learnt that only our 3 highest 2nd year modules are used in the final degree calculation (we do 8 per year. The 2nd year is worth 30% of the final degree result.) – My 2:1 result that I’m expecting is looking like more of a certainty now!
Then I went to collect my results for last semester’s modules. I knew the percentages for two modules (71% for Advanced Studio and 73.5% for DVD Tech) but not heard anything about the third (although I’d been trying to find out for almost 2 months). I was expecting around 60%/2:1, but worried I wouldn’t get that. When I opened my results, I was absolutely stunned.
We’re given grades out of 15. Advanced Studio was 13, DVD Tech was 14. For Digital Broadcasting Systems, I got 15 out of 15. I was speechless, and still am (unfortunately, for you, my typing ability hasn’t left me).
I’m over the moon. Has it been the best Friday ever? No, but it’s certainly been a good one (ha).
*my apologies to anyone who actually reads this. I just read it back, and it’s awful. But, I’ve posted something everyday this week, so I wanted that to continue.
It has definitely been a good Friday!
